This beautiful little duck hung about on the river (Big Head River, Meaford, Ontario, Canada) for a couple of weeks in the fall. I was fortunate enough to see him on several different occassions and get a number of great photos of him before he was gone. Several weeks after he had dissapeared I came to find out that the poor little guy had got hung up in some monofilament fishing line hanging underneath the bridge and his corpse was hanging from it. I have to wonder as to how long this poor little creature suffered before he finally expired from dehydration or starvation? I know it is not a very happy type comment or observation but it is one that I had felt strongly about, upon seeing him hanging under the bridge there weeks later. Just another incident that points out the dangers that befall wildlife when irresponsible fisherman leave monofilament line behind!

Special Thanks to Mike Hannam for this great photo.

More photos from Mike coming soon…
