Introducing myowensound.ca

An exciting, dynamic and fun new website for Owen Sound and area has just arrived! Introducing myowensound.ca, a consumer friendly ‘one stop shop’ community portal directly targeted to both residents and tourists.
Visitors to myowensound.ca will find an all-inclusive list of options for local recreation, places to eat, shopping, accommodations, community services, and a wide range of other businesses. The site will be updated and maintained daily with photo galleries and articles of interest celebrating local events and unique people, places and things in the area. When it comes to the pulse of the community and what’s happening locally, myowensound.ca will be out on the frontlines with an ear to the ground and a camera eye on the action. While the focus will be on Owen Sound, the website will also cover and promote communities such as Chatsworth, Meaford, Leith, Kemble, Wiarton, Allenford, Tara, Chesley, and all the nooks and crannies in between.
Blogs from well known members of the community will also be featured and updated regularly on myowensound.ca. A few examples include Anne Finlay-Stewart of Around the Sound Local Food Market and Maryann Thomas from The Ginger Press who have come on board with blogs to coincide with the launch. A free online monthly newsletter is also forthcoming in which visitors can sign up.
The new website follows in the footsteps of the hugely popular mycollingwood.ca, launched in 2005 when Collingwood residents Dan Plouffe and Julie Card identified a need in the market for an up-to-date ‘one stop’ community information resource to accommodate tourists, weekenders and locals alike. One of the key ingredients to success has been their collaborative and all-inclusive business model that offers local businesses a free listing, showcases diverse articles on local talent and enables visitors to submit their coming events for free on the web calendar. The pair had been keeping an eye on the Owen Sound market for quite some time. Now thanks to a partnership with Owen Sound residents Jamie Pettit and Jody Johnson, myowensound.ca is an online reality. If it’s going on, it’s going on myowensound.ca.
Visit www.myowensound.ca to browse the new website. For more information, please contact General Manager Jamie Pettit or Jody Johnson at 519-370-2000 or jamie@myowensound.ca.
