Town and Country Studio Tour

The BMFA Town and Country Studio Tour is always held on the first weekend in June. The Blue Mountain Foundation for the Arts has been celebrating art and artists in the Georgian Triangle region since 1986 through the Studio Tour, one of our signature events. Since the first year of the tour, 1987, the tour has grown and thrived and we now welcome thousands of visitors every year to the area, which has included Collingwood, Blue Mountain, Thornbury, Clarksburg, Nottawa, Duntroon, Glen Huron, the Pretty River Valley, and the Beaver Valley.

From a two day affair with about 15 artists, it has grown to a 3 day weekend with around 60 to 70 remarkable artists in about 30 studios. The artists work in a tremendous range of media including painting, photography, glass, pottery, wood, jewelry, iron, and textiles. During the tour, each artist with a working studio will host several guest artists, to form a mini gallery. In the past few years, we have used public spaces, such as the Collingwood Public Library Gallery or the Duntroon Highlands Ski Club to highlight and showcase several artists. These multi-studio venues are becoming increasing popular as people with busy lives attend the Studio Tour. The area we cover is very large so we try to cluster groups of studios to create walking or bicycling routes.

The Studio Tour Committee is an ever changing group of 8 to 12 BMFA volunteers, including artists, who are committed to making the event a success every year by listening to the visitors and participants. The Committee starts in September every year and works for 9 months to prepare for the event. We sincerely welcome new committee members.
