Rev. Judith Oliver to retire

by Marjorie Davison-

The Rev. Judith Oliver is retiring, after eight highly successful years of Ministry at Meaford United Church.  She will be preaching her final Service on June 27, 2010.

Her ministry has been one of love and compassion, work and dedication, not only to members of the Meaford congregation, but to many in the surrounding Community, who often called upon her in time of bereavement or tragedy, or just “someone to talk to” for life counseling.

To honour her, a retirement reception is being planned and will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2010, from 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. at Meaford Hall. An invitation of welcome is extended to all who wish to pay tribute to her.

Rev. Judith has lived an interesting and varied life.  Born in Liverpool, Nova Scotia, she was raised in the closely-knit village of Sable River, where she shared the joys, sorrows, and celebrations of Maritime living with her five siblings. The waves and beauty of the Atlantic Ocean remains an integral part of her soul.  Following high school, she chose nursing as her career, graduated from the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax after three years education, as a Registered Nurse. She has worked in General Duty; medical/surgical; Psychiatric; Intensive care and Intravenous therapy – in Women’s College Hospital, and Wellesley Hospital in Toronto; Joseph Brant Hospital, Burlington; and Credit Valley Hospital, Mississauga…
