Three scholarships are available to local youth interested in participating in arts programs.   Totaling $1000, the scholarships have been made possible by the Eva Laflar Foundation and the Franklin Bursary.

The two bursaries of $250.00 each are presented by the Meaford Hall & Culture Foundation through the generous support of the Eva Laflar Foundation in support of youth programming.  To be eligible for this bursary the applicant: must be under the age of 25; be enrolled or intending to enroll in My Film Studio and/or My Drama Studio; and show an interest in pursuing a career in theatre or film.

The Franklin Foundation annually presents a bursary of $500.00 and is in place to honour the many volunteer contributions to our community by Marg and the late Ivan Franklin.  The Franklin Foundation generously supports applicants who:  are residents of the Municipality of Meaford; are under the age of 25; are enrolled in a course or program in the visual or performing arts; have a track record of volunteer activities; can provide two or three unrelated character references.

MY Film Studio and MY Drama Studio are presented by The Grey-Bruce Arts Collective in association with the Meaford Hall and Culture Foundation.

MY Film Studio is a two week professional film program for youth interested in all aspects of film making.  Through workshops and hands on experience, participants create their own short film.  All films produced are screened as part of the Meaford International Film Festival.

MY Drama Studio is an exciting two week program for youth interested in theatre.  This new program offers the youth in the area a chance to learn about acting, directing and backstage craft from current industry professionals.”  Much like MY Film Studio, the 10 day program includes intensive sessions focused on various aspects of professional theatre while at the same time, participants rehearse and present a production of the Canadian classic, The Farm Show.  “The program takes place onstage at the Opera House and we are thrilled for the truly professional experience we can offer,” says Roger Shank, Artistic Director of the Grey Bruce Arts Collective.

MY Film Studio runs from August 9 to 20.  Program fee is $495.  MY Drama Studio runs from July 12 to 23.  Program fee is $400.  Visit www.greybruceartscollective.com to download a program application or pick one up at Meaford Hall.
