The Beaches Jazz Festival is celebrating their 22nd year of bringing free music to the masses. The festival includes three days (July 16-18) at Woodbine Park, three days of various bands along Queen East for the Streetfest, and two days (July 24-25) of big name acts performing free at Kew Gardens. Some of the acts featured this year include Five After Four, Sophie Berkal-Sarbit and Canfire.

There are also workshops offered, including Vocal Jazz Bootcamp (with Heather Bambrick) The Business of Jazz (Jaymz Bee), Jazz Drumming (Norman Marshall Villenueve), Jazz Photography (Bill and Kris King) and more. The workshops are July 19-21.

Now in its third year, The Toronto Burlesque Festival: 2010 MeTOPolis will look at the future of burlesque! Bridging the generations of burlesque with appearances by 60s legend, Satan’s Angel, neo-burlesque icons Michelle L’Amour, Tigger and Julie Atlas Muz, along with the recently crowned ‘Reigning Queen of Burlesque’ Roxi Dlite and the rising stars of today!

The Festival features the finest in burlesque entertainment, with international representation, as well as dazzling stars of the Canadian burlesque scene. Beyond performances the festival includes; The Toronto Premiere of “Dirty Martini” by Gary Beeber; A new literary event called “Naked Girls Reading”; A Photography Exhibit; Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art Show; The Burlesque Bra Auction for Breast Cancer; Tease ‘n Twirl Marketplace and a full curriculum of burlesque workshops for beginners and experienced performers alike at Burlesque University.

Electric Eclectics is a festival of experimental music and sound art, operating in Meaford Ontario since 2006. Gordon Monahan and Chris Worden curate. This is the fifth year for E-E, and promises to be the biggest and best yet.

This year features performance art and musical acts that include Brian Ruryk, Lary 7, Myths, DD/MM/YYYY and Friendly Rich & The Lollipop People. They also have DJ’s who will deliver their sets in the woods, in the Bombay Boreal Tea Tent. Come with friends and camp for the weekend or drive up for just one night. You will never forget it!
