On Saturday, September 11th and Sunday, September 12th, selected heritage sites within the Municipality of Meaford will once again open their doors to the public for free guided and self-guided tours.
A tradition held every two years, Doors Open Meaford 2010 will celebrate unique local facilities boasting a historical significance. As many as twelve locations will be featured for 2010 with three of the sites showcasing a one-time ‘not-to-miss’ art exhibit. To coincide with Doors Open Meaford 2010, the works of Meaford-born nationally-acclaimed painter Frederick Stanley Haines will be on display at the participating sites of Meaford Museum, Meaford Hall and Georgian Bay Secondary School.
Other Doors Open Meaford 2010 locations include Annan Trinity United Church, Beautiful Joe Park, Christ Church Anglican, the old Gravel Road School, Bruce Shepperd’s Great Lakes Ship Memorabilia outdoor museum, Historic Leith Church, Jolley’s Vintage Riding Toy Collection, Meaford Public Library, and Stewart Block in downtown Meaford.
