Dragons’ Den Deadline EXTENDED
Posted by John Malloy on 09/15/2010

The deadline to apply to become a contestant in Dragons’ Den Meaford has been extended. Aspiring local entrepreneurs with a business idea now have until Monday, September 27th at 4:30pm to submit a one-page synopsis to the Meaford & District Chamber of Commerce. The extension will allow those with potential business ideas some additional time to flesh out their proposals.
The synopsis must briefly explain the idea as well as demonstrate how the potential business would tie into at least one of the four pillars of the Meaford Economic Development Strategy… Retail, Tourism, Green and Agribusiness.
Anybody is eligible to enter under the assumption that should they win, they will operate their business within the Municipality of Meaford. Submissions, however, are not limited to Meaford residents.
Criteria forms for applicants are available at the offices of the Meaford & District Chamber of Commerce or on the Chamber’s website at www.mdcc.ca.
Dragons’ Den Meaford is modeled after the popular CBC TV show where aspiring entrepreneurs present their ideas in front of a panel of five local Dragons for a chance to win business start-up funding. Last year’s inaugural Meaford event was a resounding success which resulted in two new local business start-ups. Once again, up to $5,000 is up for grabs along with many other prizes.
The competition is set for Wednesday, October 20th, 2010 and presented by the Meaford & District Chamber of Commerce. For more information, please contact Jamie Pettit at 519-538-1640 or business@mdcc.ca.
